Harald Rinde
Born in Norway my need to travel helped me decide to study medicine in Ireland. I loved my six years at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Of course this is where I found my wonderful wife and lifetime companion Nicole, the Irish cailín.
After practicing medicine for a few years in Norway and the US I decided to take the plunge into the “business of healthcare” instead of clinical practice. After completing my MBA at Kellogg, Northwestern University, I joined Ciba-Geigy headquarters in Basel in 1987. I worked first as a Product Manager for Oncology, then as the Head of Cardiovascular products in HQ Product Management. Read the rest of this entry »

Mary D'Arcy Baguely
Mary was born in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, Ireland and is the eldest of 10 children. She studied nursing at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin, Midwifery in Stirling, Scotland and Intensive care nursing back at the Mater in Dublin. In 1981 she moved to Geneva and worked as an Intensive care nurse. In 1986 a career change began her life in the Pharma Industry. She interviewed and got a job at the European office of an Irish company in Zurich called ICP (Institute of Clinical Pharmacology) and held several positions there and at Roche. In 1991 Mary moved to Brussels for 4 years, got married, completed a Diploma in Management with the Open University, worked for an American Biotech company as European Co-ordinator for a Septic Shock program. In 1995 she moved back to Basel as a “trailing spouse”, with 2 children in tow.
Even with a good CV it was difficult to get a part-time job, so I started contracting and then set up CTC Clinical Trial Consulting, working initially at 60% and then increasing to 80%. I continue to try to work at 80%, but it can be difficult.
My hobbies are skiing, wine-tasting, meeting people, and having fun!
